Dryads.
humanoid in nature, with a hard yet to them bendable skin seemingly consisting of smooth wood. Near always these beautiful creatures are enveloped in twigs, branches, foliage and bark most of these seeming to grow from the dryad itself.
These are - as far as common folk know - peaceful and wise creatures but are believed to possess terrifying power should one anger them.
Dryads often lay dormant planted with roots in the ground or half swallowed by trees.
As these creatures die they let out a discharge of “spirit” in the form of rapid growth, in the matter of seconds they solidify and roots spring from their feet and bury themselves in the ground, thusly if they are for instance stabbed to death the weapon that slew them will most likely be infused with a great amount of “magical essence” but as they solidify the weapon is more often than not irretrievable, becoming a part of the eerie humanoid tree.
